A third manufacturer in MXGP
It is a first for Jago Geerts: he has never ridden a Honda in the world championship. It is his third make at world level. Before Beta, he spent eight seasons with Yamaha, from 2018 to 2025, part of them in the official team, where he raced in MX2 and made his MXGP debut.
An MX2 record without a crown
In MX2, Geerts won 24 Grands Prix but never took the world title. He finished runner-up four years in a row, in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023. His move up to MXGP in 2024 did not bring the same level of success. According to MXVice, 2027 will be an important year for him: he wants to get back to the front of the world championship.
Vlaanderen as team-mate
At Josse Sallefranque's team, Geerts will find Calvin Vlaanderen, his former Yamaha team-mate according to MXMag, whose signing was announced in August. Both will contest the MXGP World Championship and the French Elite MX1 championship.
Honda steps up its support
Also according to MXMag, Honda HRC will give the team more support from 2027, and the new CRF450R arrives for the 2027 model year. Geerts therefore leaves Beta a year early on his contract, per the same source.
Horgmo's departure
The arrival comes at the expense of Kevin Horgmo. The Norwegian has raced for SR Motoblouz Honda since 2024 and has no place in the team in 2027. He has already been announced as a ZXMOTO factory rider with JM Racing, alongside Oriol Oliver.
