EWC 2027 calendar: four rounds, Le Mans opens on 8 April
2027 endurance bike racing: Le Mans 24 Hours on 8 to 11 April, then Spa, Suzuka, Bol d'Or. The EWC calendar, a stabilisation year, a fifth round for 2028.
Key point
The FIM Endurance World Championship keeps its four classics in 2027, opening with the Le Mans 24 Hours from 8 to 11 April, and is aiming for a fifth round in 2028.
The FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC) will keep the same four rounds in 2027 as in 2026. The calendar was revealed shortly after the 2026 Bol d'Or, which closed the season at Circuit Paul Ricard. For new promoter Claude Michy, who took over in 2026, the year 2027 will be a year of stabilisation: consolidate and focus on event quality before growing.
The 2027 EWC calendar
- 24 Heures Motos, Le Mans: 8 to 11 April, a week earlier than in 2026;
- 8 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps: 4 to 5 June, still in its sprint-style format on the Ardennes circuit;
- Suzuka 8 Hours: 2 to 4 July;
- Bol d'Or, Circuit Paul Ricard: the 90th edition closes the season, as it has every year since 2022. Its date is not given in the announcement as reported.
The formula stays as in 2026: four races, two 24-hour and two 8-hour, 64 hours of racing in total. 2026 was already the first season under the championship's new promotion.
Suzuka, a showcase for MotoGP and WorldSBK riders
The Suzuka 8 Hours remains a major draw for stars from other disciplines, MotoGP in particular. Johann Zarco (Honda) won it in 2024 and in 2025, while Jack Miller (Yamaha) fell just short of victory in 2025 and in 2026. The 2027 calendar has been built around the MotoGP and WorldSBK calendars so that riders can keep making one-off appearances in endurance.
A fifth round in 2028?
Speculation about a fifth race as early as 2027 can therefore be laid to rest, but expansion remains on the agenda for 2028. Claude Michy says talks are open with venues such as Barcelona and Valencia, among others. With a grid of 50 entries, the space and infrastructure have to match. The EWC could also look at circuits in countries that do not host MotoGP, to build its own presence while using top-level facilities.
If a fifth event is added, it would most likely be an 8-hour or 12-hour race. According to the promoter, a 12-hour distance is a sweet spot because it allows extra championship points to be awarded.
The takeaway
No upheaval, then, for the 2027 EWC season: the four classics, an earlier opener at Le Mans and a plan for the future. The Bol d'Or date has yet to be announced.
