WMX 2027: women's motocross calendar has six rounds

The American women's motocross championship, WMX, has revealed its 2027 calendar: six rounds, all held alongside the Pro Motocross championship, between late May and late August. Lachlan Turner, the reigning three-time champion, will chase a fourth title.

The six WMX rounds for 2027

According to MX Vice, the schedule is:

• Pala Raceway (Southern California): 28-29 May, Memorial Day weekend;
• Hangtown Motocross Classic (Northern California): 4-5 June;
• Thunder Valley (Colorado): 11-12 June;
• Unadilla (central New York): 13-14 August;
• Budds Creek (southern Maryland): 20-21 August;
• Ironman Raceway (Indiana): 27-28 August, the championship finale.

A summer break therefore separates the third round from the fourth, between June and August.

WMX Invitational returns in September

For a second year, the WMX Invitational will be run at the SMX World Championship Final on 25 September. The venue has not been announced: the track will be a hybrid of Supercross and Pro Motocross elements.

Who to watch

Lachlan Turner, the reigning three-time champion, is after a fourth title. Challengers include Charli Cannon and Mikayla Nielsen, along with Mayla Herrick, who will contest a full WMX season for the first time. MX1 On Board also details the 2027 SMX Next programme: 10 events, five Supercross and five Pro Motocross, with 25 riders in each discipline. The top 15 in combined points qualify automatically for the SMX Next World All-Stars, held at the two playoff rounds of the SMX World Championship. A new regional programme, SMX Next Australia, lets up to three prospects qualify on AUSX Supercross points.
