The UIM publishes the full Sintra election results: members of five commissions, five administrators and an open question over Kuwait. What to know.
Key point
The UIM has published the full Sintra results: members of five commissions and five administrators for 2026-2030, with Frank Dettmering the only new administrator.
After the presidents were announced, the UIM has published the full results of the elections at its 99th General Assembly, held in Sintra, Portugal, on Sunday 25 October 2026. They name the members of the five international commissions and the five Administrators who join the Council for 2026-2030.
Recap: the four presidents
The presidencies were already known: Pelle Larsson (COMINSPORT), Luis Miguel Ribeiro (COMINTECH), Belgium's Jean-Marie Van Lancker (COMINOFF, offshore) and Fabrizio Boffi (COMINSAFE). Boffi ends Bob Wartinger's 36 years as president; Wartinger now stays on the commission as a member.
Commission by commission
- COMINSPORT (sporting rules, international calendar, records): six of the eight members return; Fred Hauenstein and Pascal Reide join. Estonian candidate Vahur Joala, beaten for the presidency, is not a member.
- COMINTECH (technical rules, testing of boats): four returning and four new members. Mikael Lundblad, beaten for the presidency, is not among them but keeps his seat on COMINOFF.
- COMINOFF (offshore): the four sitting members who stood again were returned. Denis Dillon, who withdrew against Van Lancker, is no longer on it.
- COMINSAFE (medical and safety): only four seats, contested by eleven candidates.
- Pleasure Navigation Commission: Sijbrand Booij of the Koninklijke Nederlandsche Motorboot Club of the Netherlands was the sole presidential candidate and succeeds Dillon, who stays as a member. Seven members are listed where eight candidates stood for eight seats: Russia's Rifat Basharov does not appear.
The five administrators and the Kuwait question
Five Administrators were elected, the maximum, from eight candidates. Frank Dettmering of Germany's Deutscher Motoryacht Verband is the only new name. Fred Hauenstein, the UIM's Senior Vice-President, returns as an Administrator. Davor Hundic (Croatia), Petr Pylaev (Russia) and Karolis Ramoska (Lithuania) were not elected.
None of the six candidacies from the two Kuwaiti clubs, covering COMINSPORT, COMINOFF and COMINSAFE, appears in the results. They were subject to the Assembly's decision on Kuwait's membership, but the documents do not record what was decided.
Three officials on two commissions
Max Gamarra sits on COMINTECH and COMINOFF, Jerzy Wojewoda on COMINTECH and COMINSAFE, and Kathy Van den Hende on COMINOFF and the Pleasure Navigation Commission.
