Supercross: Ken Roczen extends with Suzuki for 2027
Reigning AMA Supercross champion Ken Roczen stays with PMG Suzuki in 2027 for a fifth season with the team; the championship opens on 9 January in Anaheim.
Key point
AMA Supercross champion Ken Roczen re-signs with PMG Suzuki for 2027, his fifth season with the team; the deal covers supercross only.
Ken Roczen, the reigning AMA Supercross champion, will stay with Suzuki in 2027. Suzuki Motor USA and Pipes Motorsports Group (PMG) announced on Thursday 29 October that he returns to AWM Fulfillment PMG Suzuki presented by Progressive/Cycle Gear for the 2027 season, his fifth in a row with the team.
A partnership that began in 2023
Since joining PMG Suzuki in 2023, the German has taken several wins and podiums on his Suzuki RM-Z450, most notably the 2026 AMA Supercross title. According to MX1Onboard, he clinched it in an epic finale, capping one of the biggest comebacks of his career. Roczen also won the 2016 AMA Motocross Championship with Suzuki.
Suzuki Motor USA and PMG praise his level, professionalism and dedication. PMG team principal Dustin Pipes says the team wanted to extend the partnership after the title, to keep the rider in Suzuki yellow for the long term.
Chris Wheeler, Motorsports Manager at Suzuki Motor USA, wants to build on that momentum to show what Suzuki motocross bikes can do at the highest level. Team manager Larry Brooks is pleased to have him back for 2027 and beyond as they defend the title, highlighting his experience, preparation and competitiveness.
The calendar: Anaheim opener on 9 January
Roczen returns for the 2027 SuperMotocross World Championship, which opens on 9 January at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California. He will wear the number 1 plate of the reigning champion.
Supercross only, motocross uncertain
MX1Onboard stresses that the new contract covers AMA Supercross only. Roczen's participation in Pro Motocross therefore remains uncertain, with the possibility of a few appearances. The site recalls that retiring on a high or a limited farewell tour had also been discussed before the announcement.
A stronger team and a tighter market
According to MX1Onboard, PMG Suzuki already counts on Justin Barcia for 2027, and Jason Anderson is expected to stay, which could produce a three-rider line-up with premier-class experience. As a result, the site says, a move by Chase Sexton to Suzuki looks increasingly unlikely: he recently left Monster Energy Kawasaki and his options are narrowing just over two months before the championship starts.
