MTB: Lenzerheide keeps the World Cup in 2027 and 2029
Lenzerheide will host the mountain bike World Cup on 20-22 August 2027 and again in 2029; the 2028 venue is open. Disciplines, tickets and Swiss context.
Key point
Lenzerheide (Switzerland) stays on the mountain bike World Cup calendar in 2027 (20-22 August) and 2029, with the 2028 venue still open.
Top-level mountain biking stays loyal to Switzerland. According to the Graubünden organisers, relayed by the Keystone-SDA agency, the Lenzerheide mountain bike World Cup will be back on the programme in 2027 and 2029. The venue for the Swiss round in 2028 has not yet been determined.
2027 dates and programme
The Lenzerheide round will be held from 20 to 22 August 2027 at the Bike Kingdom Lenzerheide. It already appears in the MTB World Series calendar. All three disciplines are therefore raced over the same weekend, making it a complete date for fans. Three disciplines are scheduled:
- cross-country short track (XCC);
- Olympic cross-country (XCO);
- downhill (DHI).
Ticket sales start in December 2026 at mtbworldcup.ch. The 2026 edition was the tenth World Cup held at Lenzerheide.
A contract that brings visibility
The new contract covers 2027 and 2029. Whether the Swiss round in 2028 takes place at Lenzerheide or elsewhere in the country is still open, according to the organisers' statement. They see the contract as the planning security needed to keep developing the event. It is also a milestone for the recently founded Lenzerheide Event Organisation (LEO), which pools know-how, infrastructure, partnerships and staff for the resort's major sporting events. Biathlon World Cups are also planned in Lenzerheide in 2028 and 2030.
A strong Swiss backdrop
The home race is secured for Swiss riders at a time when they are very strong. Six of them finished in the top 10 of the 2026 overall cross-country standings:
- Sina Frei, second, who also won the overall short-track standings;
- Alessandra Keller (sixth), Nicole Koller (seventh) and Ronja Blöchlinger (eighth);
- Dario Lillo (seventh) and Filippo Colombo (ninth) among the men.
In downhill, Lisa Baumann finished fifth overall.
