F2 2027-2029: Lando Norris's LN4 Fusion joins the grid
Formula 2 confirms eleven teams for 2027-2029: ten carry over and one is new, Lando Norris's LN4 Fusion, which takes the place of AIX Racing.
Key point
Eleven teams will make up the F2 grid in 2027-2029; LN4 Fusion, founded by Lando Norris, is the only newcomer and takes AIX Racing's place.
Formula 2 confirmed on 28 October its team list for the next three-year cycle, from 2027 to 2029. It features eleven teams: ten carry over and only one is new, LN4 Fusion, the team founded by Lando Norris.
Only one newcomer
The championship, the final step before Formula 1, says it received strong interest from teams worldwide for the new cycle. Its CEO, Bruno Michel, says ten current teams were retained after showing commitment to providing the best environment for young drivers. He also welcomes LN4 Fusion, from which he expects a valuable contribution.
Each team fields two drivers, so the grid stays at 22 cars. The ten existing teams are Campos, Invicta, Rodin, MP, DAMS, ART, Trident, Hitech, Van Amersfoort and Prema, joined by LN4 Fusion. Many seats are still to be confirmed.
LN4 Fusion takes AIX Racing's place
LN4 Fusion was launched in September. It had already announced its F3 and F4 entries, but its F2 place depended on an application. That succeeded: the team acquired assets from the former AIX squad, which leaves the championship at the end of the 2026 season and also gives up its F3 entry. LN4 Fusion will race under an Italian licence.
Its CEO, Dan Richards, calls it an important milestone, only months after the project was launched. He acknowledges the level of competition and says the team first wants to build the right foundations, with the right people.
Norris created LN4 Fusion only months before this announcement, with the aim of helping junior drivers reach Formula 1. The news came on the eve of the F1 Mexican Grand Prix, and the team had to go through a successful application process to secure its place.
Familiar faces, drivers still to be named
The team brings back René Rosin and Guillaume Capietto, formerly of Prema, a squad that has taken several F2 titles. In F3, three drivers are already announced: Dion Gowda, Gabriel Gomez and James Egozi. No F2 driver has been named yet.
