X Games launches Legends, its first alumni program for athletes
X Games launches Legends, its first alumni program in 30 years: a verified community, tickets, brand deals and post-career support for some 4,600 athletes.
Key point
On 20 October 2026 X Games launched Legends, the first formal alumni program in its 30-year history, for about 4,600 athletes who have competed since 1995.
X Games announced on 20 October 2026 the launch of X Games Legends, the first formal alumni program in the brand's 30-year history. The initiative aims to recognise, reconnect and support the athletes who built the reputation of this action sports event, from snowboarding to Moto X.
A verified community for about 4,600 athletes
According to the organisation, about 4,600 athletes have competed at summer and winter X Games since 1995. Until now, no formal programme brought them together. The programme is built around a verified, members-only community open to every current and former competitor, from today's medallists to the pioneers.
What members can do
- find other alumni through a member directory and a community map showing where Legends live and their X Games history;
- request tickets and credentials for X Games events;
- get pro deals from brands such as Burton, Armada and Atomic;
- access paid and unpaid opportunities: brand partnerships, ambassador roles, media projects;
- follow programme news and pitch ideas directly to the organisation.
Support for life after competing
Together with the X Games Foundation, an independent non-profit, the programme also aims to widen the resources available to athletes beyond competition: financial education, post-career education and coaching, mentorship, brain health and mental wellness. Members can also mentor younger athletes.
Who runs it
The programme is led by Kristi Leskinen, a former X Games freeskier who is now the brand's first Legends Director. As early as February 2025, Teton Gravity Research introduced her as alumni director, with several ideas on the table: a network of former athletes, a mentorship scheme called "Pay It Forward", a newsletter inviting alumni to events and support for retiring athletes. A Hall of Fame was also mentioned at the time; it is not part of the 20 October announcement.
Among the athletes linked to the launch, Travis Pastrana is described as a 17-time X Games Moto X medallist, including 11 golds.
