Peugeot TotalEnergies gives test driver and IMSA LMP2 champion Alex Quinn a full-time Hypercar race seat in the 2027 World Endurance Championship.
Key point
Peugeot TotalEnergies has promoted test and development driver Alex Quinn to a full-time WEC race seat for 2027, days after he won the IMSA LMP2 title.
Alex Quinn will be a full-time Peugeot TotalEnergies driver in the WEC in 2027. The team announced on Thursday 8 October 2026 that it is promoting its test and development driver, who will race the evolved Peugeot 9X8 in the Hypercar class. The Briton, who turns 26 in December, won the IMSA LMP2 title with CrowdStrike by APR a few days earlier.
From the Bahrain test to a race seat
Quinn first drove the 9X8 at the rookie test in Bahrain in November 2025 and was then added to the programme as the "seventh driver". He follows the same path as Malthe Jakobsen, his predecessor in the role. "Becoming an official driver for Team Peugeot TotalEnergies in the FIA World Endurance Championship is a dream come true," he said.
Team principal Emmanuel Esnault said the team is delighted "to promote Alex from a role of test and development driver to a full-time race driver role in 2027".
