Thomas Marini is the 2026 Tout Terrain Rally Cup European champion. According to Formula Passion (20 October 2026), the San Marino rider won the overall standings and the M5 twin-cylinder class on the Aprilia Tuareg Rally. It is Aprilia's first win in this championship, and second place goes to his team-mate Jacopo Cerutti, a one-two on the continental podium, overall and in the class.
How the season unfolded
The season began in Santiago de Compostela, Spain: Marini finished second overall behind Cerutti, with two overall daily wins. The next round was in Pefki Evia, Greece. The high point came in Romania, at the Ro Rally Marathon held from 10 to 18 July 2026 in Râmnicu Sărat: Marini took his first overall win, with four overall stage wins and five class wins over seven stages, and a podium in every special.
Cerutti, overall winner in Spain and Greece, was also in the title fight. He had to retire in Romania after a serious accident on day six, a collision with a car travelling in the opposite direction during a special. According to Piaggio, he had successful surgery in Bucharest for fractures of the tibia and fibula of his right leg and of the patella of his left leg. After that win, Marini led the overall standings with one race left.
A title that confirms the Tuareg project
Aprilia Tuareg Racing has become a benchmark in off-road racing in recent years: two consecutive Africa Eco Race wins (2024 and 2025) and three straight Italian Motorally titles (2023 to 2025). The Tuareg Rally is developed with GCorse, the team of the Guareschi brothers.
What is next: Addax Rally and Africa Eco Race 2027
The next appointment is the Addax Rally, from 25 to 30 October in Morocco, with Marini, Marco Menichini and Francesco Montanari, in preparation for the 2027 Africa Eco Race. Cerutti wants to recover in time to start that one on his Tuareg Rally.
