Gold Coast 500: Broc Feeney (Triple Eight) wins Race 2 of the Supercars Finals ahead of Kostecki and Mostert; Ryan Wood, Kai Allen and Le Brocq are eliminated.

Key point

Starting from pole, Broc Feeney (Triple Eight) won Race 2 of the Gold Coast 500; Ryan Wood, Kai Allen and Jack Le Brocq are out of the Supercars Finals.

Broc Feeney (Triple Eight, Ford Mustang) won Race 2 of the Gold Coast 500 on Sunday 25 October 2026 at Surfers Paradise, the opening round of the Supercars championship Finals. Starting from pole position, he answered his Saturday defeat by leading the 85-lap race ahead of Brodie Kostecki (Dick Johnson Racing) and Chaz Mostert (Walkinshaw TWG Racing). Behind them, the fight for the qualifying places turned into a debate: Ryan Wood is out.

The podium and the top of the order

Feeney won by 6.9098 seconds over Kostecki. Mostert, third, finished 20.9281 seconds back. He was chasing a fourth straight Gold Coast win; he was already assured of the next stage of the Finals thanks to his Saturday victory.

    1. Brodie Kostecki (Dick Johnson Racing, Ford), 6.9098 s behind
    1. Chaz Mostert (Walkinshaw TWG Racing, Toyota Supra), 20.9281 s behind
    1. Ryan Wood (Walkinshaw TWG Racing, Toyota Supra)
    1. Andre Heimgartner (Brad Jones Racing, Toyota Supra)

Matt Payne (Grove Racing) took sixth, ahead of Cameron Waters (Tickford) and James Golding (Blanchard).

An elimination that sparks debate

Three drivers leave the Finals: Ryan Wood, Kai Allen and Jack Le Brocq. Wood's case dominates the discussion. According to Speedcafe, Walkinshaw TWG asked Mostert, then third, to back off and let his team-mate through to help his Finals bid. Autosport describes the sequence differently: Wood passed Mostert on lap 74, then gave the place back on the last lap. Both accounts agree on the outcome: Wood did not save his place.

His fate was decided by late stops from several Chevrolet cars. Jarrod Hughes (Erebus) pitted with eight laps to go, apparently short on fuel, and the team admitted on air that it had made a mistake. Cooper Murray also pitted with four laps left, which dropped him from seventh. Anton De Pasquale (Team 18) finished 14th, enough to take the last qualifying place.

The seven drivers still in contention

After the race, the Finals order lists Payne, Feeney, Kostecki, Mostert, Will Brown, Waters and De Pasquale. These seven drivers carry on at Sandown Park, in Melbourne, from 6 to 8 November.

The first lap had also been eventful: De Pasquale and Allen tangled, which gave De Pasquale a right-rear puncture, followed by a Safety Car for debris. On lap 9, Jobe Stewart (Erebus) retired with a suspected transaxle problem. Worth recalling: Mostert won Race 1 in the rain on Saturday, so Feeney took his revenge at the best possible moment.
