Key point
The first Rallye Sirocco runs from 18 to 23 December 2026: a 1,035 km regularity route from Marrakech for a maximum of 15 crews.
A new date is appearing on the Moroccan desert calendar: the Rallye Sirocco, a regularity rally with a humanitarian purpose, will be held for the first time from 18 to 23 December 2026. The route covers 1,035 km from Marrakech, via Ouarzazate and M'Hamid El Ghizlane. No more than 15 crews will be invited.
A regularity rally, not a speed event
The Rallye Sirocco is not a speed contest: it is a regularity rally run on a non-profit basis. Its name recalls the sirocco, the dry wind that blows from the Sahara towards the Mediterranean and southern Europe. The organisers also want to strengthen ties between France and Morocco, and say they want to raise funds for 323 students in M'Hamid El Ghizlane and Aït Benhaddou; part of the entry fee goes to them.
It is backed by the Moroccan Automobile Club's sports association (ASACM), the Moroccan federation of historic vehicles (FMVA) and two Moroccan youth associations in France, AJMF and AJMT. MG is title partner, and the MG ZS Hybrid+ is the event's official car. Abdelouahed Ettoubaji, who took part in the 2007 Dakar, is race director.
The route in four stages
- 19 December: Marrakech - Ouarzazate, 219 km, with two regularity sections;
- 20 December: Ouarzazate - M'Hamid El Ghizlane, 252 km;
- 21 December: M'Hamid El Ghizlane - Aït Benhaddou, 374 km, with two regularity sections, via Zagora, Foum El Oued and Taznakht;
- 22 December: Aït Benhaddou - Marrakech, 190 km.
Entry and press conferences
Entry costs 24,000 MAD (2,400 euros) per two-person crew. A deposit of 2,000 MAD secures a place, with the balance due about two months later; pre-registration is free and non-binding. A first press conference is planned for 16 October in Paris, and a second in November in Casablanca, with no date given yet.
Worth noting
The Rallye Sirocco is a small-scale event, designed as a sporting and charitable trip through southern Morocco. The official website names no specific beneficiary; the organisers themselves mention the students of M'Hamid El Ghizlane and Aït Benhaddou.
