A world championship under UIM licence until 2031
On 7 May 2026, Race World Offshore (RWO) announced a multi-year licence agreement with UIM Events, the commercial arm of the Union Internationale Motonautique. It covers the 2026 to 2031 seasons, six in all, for the UIM Offshore Class 1, UIM Offshore Class 2 and APBA Super Cat classes, across the United States and Canada.
RWO, based in Key West and chaired by Larry Bleil, is the exclusive promoter and holder of the commercial rights. It runs the races, scrutineering, course layout, logistics and safety. The champion of each class will be honoured at the UIM's annual awards ceremony in 2027.
Five races, four cities
The 2026 season has five races in four host cities:
- Atlantic City (New Jersey), the season opener;
- Michigan City (Indiana);
- Clearwater Beach (Florida);
- Key West (Florida), where the finale counts as two events.
The UIM requires a minimum of four events for the season.
A team backed by local businesses: Lake America
Among the entries, the Lake America team, led by New York State Super Stock racer Pete Bogino and his son A.J., is racing with local support. Its main partner is Coco's Monkey, a Key West clothing and accessories brand with three shops, including a new one on Duval Street. Restaurants, businesses and estate agents from the island also back the team.
The team won the Englewood Beach Waterfest in South Florida earlier in October: its first chequered flag in just two races. The Boginos raced for years under the Coco's Monkey banner with a 32-foot Doug Wright catamaran, sold in 2025 to HBS Motorsports.
