Key point

Nicolai Skovbjerg, 20, the 2026 EMX250 runner-up, makes his MX2 debut in 2027 with Beddini Racing Ducati on the Desmo250 MX, alongside Ferruccio Zanchi.

Dane Nicolai Skovbjerg will move up to MX2 in 2027: the 20-year-old announced on 6 October 2026 that he is joining Beddini Racing Factory Ducati for the Motocross World Championship. The EMX250 runner-up this season, he will therefore make his debut in the world 250cc class on a Ducati Desmo250 MX.

An EMX250 runner-up stepping up to the world championship

Skovbjerg finishes 2026 second in the EMX250 European championship. He took three wins, in Sardinia, Belgium and the Netherlands, three rounds held on sandy ground. According to MX Vice, he was the only rider to seriously challenge champion Francisco Garcia this season.

Born on 25 August 2006 in Padborg, in southern Jutland, he has raced since 2009. It was his third season in EMX250, after two years in EMX125, according to Gatedrop. This year he rode for the 67 Seven Racing Team on a Husqvarna. The move to Ducati therefore means both a new brand and a new class.

What we know about his 2027 programme

  • Team: Beddini Racing Factory Ducati, a factory structure in MX2;
  • Bike: Ducati Desmo250 MX;
  • Team-mate: Italian Ferruccio Zanchi;
  • Championship: MX2 of the Motocross World Championship, in 2027.

Skovbjerg himself describes the deal as a huge step in his career and a dream come true. He says he is looking forward to starting this new chapter.

What remains to be confirmed

The sources consulted give neither the length of the contract nor the date of his first tests on the Ducati. The full 2027 world championship calendar is not detailed in these announcements either.

Why it matters

MX2 is the stepping stone to the premier class of the world championship. By entrusting a factory bike to a rider who has just fought for the European EMX250 title, Ducati is betting on a young talent from the continental championship. For Skovbjerg, the challenge will be to confirm this season's results on sand at world level. The editorial team will follow the Dane's first outings on the Desmo250 MX.
