A record pole for Bezzecchi

It is Bezzecchi's first pole since Misano, Motorsport Magazin reports. On his second Q2 run he cut Márquez's record by almost three tenths, then improved again on his final lap. Márquez, about three tenths adrift after his first runs, could not close the gap. The session ran in 34°C air and 42°C track temperatures. On Friday, Di Giannantonio had already set a lap record in practice, a 1'50.406.

Franco Morbidelli, Luca Marini, Iker Lecuona, Diogo Moreira, Jake Dixon and Maverick Viñales, all knocked out in Q1, fill 13th to 18th; Viñales is last, still hampered by an injured shoulder.

Martin frustrated, title still open
