Sandra Gómez is crowned the first women's Hard Enduro world champion: the title was sealed at the Roof of Africa and celebrated at Hixpania in Spain.

Key point

Sandra Gómez becomes the first women's world champion in Hard Enduro history, in a series launched in 2026; her title was mathematically secured at the Roof of Africa.

Spain's Sandra Gómez is the first women's world champion in the history of Hard Enduro. The rider from Madrid celebrated her title this weekend in Aguilar de Campoo, in the province of Palencia, where the 24MX Hixpania Hard Enduro took place as the last round of the 2026 season. The women's Hard Enduro world championship was launched this year.

A title secured before the final round

According to the EFE news agency, carried by Mundo Deportivo, Sandra Gómez dominated the championship from start to finish. She clinched the title mathematically at the Roof of Africa in Lesotho, with two rounds still to go. The Madrid motorcycling federation reported her win in the women's category there.

The rider chose to put off the party until the Spanish round: she wanted to enjoy it in front of her own crowd, with the season already won.

Four maximum scores in 2026

Over the season the champion took four full scores:

  • Alestrem (France);
  • Lagares (Portugal);
  • Silver Kings (United States);
  • Abestone (Italy).

She also scored 30 points at Forza Ora (Sweden). In Lesotho she fell into a river, an incident that clouded the end of her weekend, but she knew she held an advantage and that Hixpania remained to secure the title.

How the championship works

Each round has three races: the prologue, the sprint race and the main race. The winner scores 3, 10 and 20 points. In the overall standings, only the six best results from the eight events on the calendar count.

Gold or Silver: racing against the men

Sandra Gómez alternates between the Gold and Silver classes, where she says she always stays in the top 5. She admits there is a big gap in level with the other women, but prefers to take the risk of racing against the men because that is what she enjoys. For her, the title shows young girls that there is a future in the discipline.

She is already preparing for next season. She would like to return to the Dakar, which is not possible this year, but she plans to go as a spectator and perhaps compete next year.
