The F1 Powerboat Championship has released its 2027 calendar: six tentative events in the United States, from 19 February in Bradenton, Florida to 18 July in Alton, Illinois. It is the first calendar published since Tim Seebold and John Schubert reacquired the championship from the IHRA on 7 August 2026. All dates are still tentative.
The 2027 calendar at a glance
- 19-20 February: Bradenton, Florida, Bradenton Area River Regatta, National event;
- 24 April: Freeport, Texas, RiverFest Freeport, one day, Regional event;
- 30 April-2 May: Port Neches, Texas, RiverFest / Thunder on the Neches, National event;
- 28-30 May: Shreveport, Louisiana, Red River Rumble F1 Powerboat Showdown, National event;
- 2-4 July: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh Formula One Powerboat National Championship, National event;
- 16-18 July: Alton, Illinois, Alton Powerboat Nationals, National event.
Five events are National and one is Regional. The release does not say how many races each event has, nor whether the Regional round carries championship points.
Pittsburgh returns
Pittsburgh hosts the series for the first time in about a decade, on the Allegheny River over the Fourth of July weekend. It is the first year of a three-year deal with SportsPITTSBURGH, the sports division of VisitPITTSBURGH, announced in July 2026 while the IHRA still owned the series. Formula Lights and Tri-Hull classes will also race that weekend.
What changes from 2026
The Red River Rumble moves from 22-24 May in 2026 to the final weekend of May. Marble Falls, Texas, round four in 2026, is off the calendar with no reason given. In 2026 the IHRA cut the season from eight rounds to five, and Dylan Anderson took the title. For 2027 the series promises expanded TV and streaming coverage, without naming a broadcaster.
