Crankworx is building a global MTB enduro series for 2027 after the UCI World Cup pause: 35 organisers are in talks, but only one event is confirmed so far.

Key point

Crankworx is talking to 35 organisers in 25 countries about its 2027 global enduro series, but only the Canadian Open Enduro in Whistler is confirmed.

Enduro mountain biking is looking for its future. Crankworx is preparing a new global series of enduro races for 2027 and, nearly two months after the announcement, the project is moving: the promoter is in talks with 35 organisers across 25 countries on five continents. Yet only one event is confirmed so far: the Canadian Open Enduro in Whistler.

Why Crankworx is launching an enduro series

On 19 August 2026, the UCI and Warner Bros. Discovery announced the official pause of the enduro World Cup. Apart from the World Championships later in 2027, enduro is no longer a regular fixture at this level. Less than 24 hours later, on 20 August, Crankworx announced its own global series for 2027.

Its pitch: return to the roots of enduro, with famous trails, travel and participation for riders of all levels, and a consistent global calendar for riders, sponsors and destinations.

What we know today

  • 35 organisers are in talks with Crankworx, in 25 countries across five continents.
  • The Canadian Open Enduro, founded in 2009 in Whistler, the birthplace of Crankworx, will be on the calendar.
  • The Enduro Athlete Advisory Group, which represents riders, works closely with Crankworx and regularly exchanges with other riders. Professional rider Greg Callaghan supports this athlete involvement.
  • Crankworx also confirms talks with the UCI, as well as with teams, organisers and destinations.

What remains unclear

Thirty-five potential partners do not mean thirty-five races, MTB-News points out. No target for the number of rounds has been communicated and no specific candidate is named. The 2027 calendar is not published, and the rules (categories, overall standings, qualification conditions) are not defined.

On the UCI side, nothing points to official cooperation, and the series is not presented as the successor to the World Cup. Crankworx says it wants to bring the interests of the parties together first and promises more details once agreements are reached. Interested destinations can get in touch.

For riders and teams

Overall standings, entry options, final calendar: these questions remain open for riders and teams. The editorial team will follow the next announcements from Crankworx and the UCI.
